As Finance Director, you will drive and coordinate all financial activities, ensuring our long-term financial health and sustainability. Your strategic insights and advice will be crucial for guiding the Management Board (CMB) and Strategic Leadership Team (SLT), helping us achieve our financial commitments and fuel our ongoing success.

Salary: Circa £120,000, plus excellent benefits

Certsure provides industry-leading certification schemes and support to the building services sector. These services are delivered through the NICEIC brand.

For almost 70 years, NICEIC has been the UK’s largest certification body for electrical businesses with over 40,000 currently certified with us.  As the industry leader, we drive the highest standards of competence and safety.

We assess, certify and train electricians, plumbers, renewable energy installers, and gas and heating engineers. To become certified, businesses must demonstrate their compliance with technical standards and industry best-practice through rigorous assessments and continuing professional development.

Trade professionals look to us for certification and technical leadership, and value the credibility our name gives theirs. We provide ongoing advice and support and list their businesses on our online ‘Find a trusted NICEIC tradesperson’ tool.

Person Specification

 

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Director to join our company.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified chartered accountant with a recognised professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CAI, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW, or ICAS). You should have proven experience as a Board member and company director, showcasing strong leadership in a similarly sized organisation.

We are looking for someone with excellent business acumen, a solid track record in implementing financial strategies, and the ability to lead organisational change. Effective communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as is experience in procurement and a thorough understanding of legal and regulatory requirements.

As Finance Director, you will play a key role in steering our financial strategy, ensuring the organisation’s financial health, and supporting its overall mission.

Key Responsibilities

 

As Finance Director, you will ensure the financial health and sustainability of Certsure LLP (CLLP) by:

  • Strategic Leadership: Steering CLLP’s Finance and Accounting strategy to optimise financial performance and strategic positioning.
  • Financial Reporting: Overseeing accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Growth Strategies: Supporting Strategic Leadership Team in developing profitable growth strategies and challenging assumptions and targets.

 

As an Executive Director of the Certsure Management Board, you will:

  • Fulfil your duties in line with the Companies Act 2006, ensuring alignment with legal and ethical standards.
  • Follow the UK Corporate Governance Code to ensure effective leadership and accountability.

nterview Process

Our selection process for the Finance Director role is designed to identify the best candidate through a series of comprehensive stages. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Initial Application Review 

We will review your CV and supporting statement to assess your experience and qualifications against the role requirements.

2. Psychometric Test 

We will review your application after the closing date and if you meet our shortlisting criteria you will be invited for a psychometric test to evaluate your cognitive abilities and personality traits.

3. First-Round Interview (MS Teams) 

To assess your experience, skills, and cultural fit.

Timeline: After 18 September 2024

4. Second-Round Interview (In-person) 

In-depth interview with shortlisted candidates, focusing on technical expertise, leadership qualities, and strategic thinking. You will have an informal conversation with our Senior Leadership Team and your future team to get to know the people you’ll be working with and gain insights into our company culture.

Timeline: 1 October 2024

5. Final Interview (In-person) 

A final discussion with the executive team to ensure alignment with organisational goals and culture.
